Buy the Utility Coat sewing pattern from The Maker’s Atelier. A relaxed, unlined coat with hood or round-neck collar options. This versatile style can be made in linen for summer or jersey for stylish leisurewear, and it's perfect in waterproof fabrics for all weathers.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is 

Suggested fabrics:

Main: Linens, parachute silks, coated or waxed cottons, lightweight waterproof fabrics and oilskins.

Trim (for round neck version): Ribbed or flat jersey with lycra or elastane content.

Fabric requirements: 

With hood: 115 cm wide fabric: 3.6 m // 150 cm wide fabric: 2.6 m.

Without hood: 115 cm wide fabric: 3.2 m // 150 cm wide fabric: 2.4 m.

Trim (for round neck version): 115 cm wide fabric: 0.2 m.

Sizing: 8 – 18 (approx. UK 8 – 16/18, based on our ). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 10 buttons (4 for pockets + 6 for front); 40 cm of 20 mm elastic; 4.5 m of 15 mm cotton tape, or 6.5 m of 15 mm cotton tape for hooded version.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (48 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets) // Layers: No // Projector file: No. Please note you must print all sizes to ensure no pieces or markings are lost.
